* Add a Test Run Configuration File for run the tests on the desktop.
* Replace [ExpectedException] attribute with a compatible approach in all the tests using it. (Proposed ExtendedAssert.Throws())
* Replace #if PocketPC directives with runtime checks based on Environment.OSVersion.Platform.

Closed Task: Change default config file name to current module + .config [884]

Visual Studio 2008 renames App.config files to the corresponding module file name appending the ".config" extension. The previous version looks for "App.config" only so this is not working with VS2008.
For fixing this issue, we need to change the default config file name as the full .Net System.Configuration, using the current module file name appending the ".config" extension.
Additionaly, we'll need to:
* Include a ConfigFileName property on ConfigurationManager to allow an arbitrary config filename like "App.Config" for backward compatibility and tests.
* The property can only be set if the configuration is not loaded yet.
* Modify the unit tests that are using an aribtrary "App.config" as far as when running a unit test, the module name is the host and we need to force "App.config" as the config file name.

Closed Task: Connection Monitor: Add support for multi-homing [1028]

* Remove ActiveConnection and CurrentNetwork properties.
* Add ActiveConnections properties.
* Replace ActiveNetworkChanged event with a new ConnectionStatusChanged event.
* IsConnected property should return true if any of the connections is connected, otherwise false. (We don't need to cache anything).
* Remove NetworkCollection and Network classes. The new approach will just get a string with the network name from an active Connection.
* Update all the unit tests.
* Update DisconnectedAgent accordingly.

Closed Task: Create separate projects for each block targeting .Net CF 3.5 and .Net CF 2.0 [1597]

Closed Issue: GetAddressForNetwork and GetAccountNameForNetwork should return default values for an empty network name [2353]

EndpointCatalog is throwing an ArgumentException with empty network names while looking for Address or AccountNames. But it's returning default values with null or networks not configured. To make it consistent, we should return default values also for empty network names.

There is definitely value in keeping this project alive. I work for a fortune 500 with thousands of enterprise mobile devices running WinMo 5.0 planning to redeploy WinMo 6.1/6.5. I found this project very exciting.

It would be very kind of the team to update the documentation and the reference implementation sample that uses the latest mobile application blocks.

If this has already been done, then can someone point me to that resource link ?

Hello,

your framework is very interessting.

I know the Windows phone 7 will come soon, but Im developing software for industrial purposes.

So i think i probably won't be able to use the new compact framework 4.0. Therefore i'm looking for frameworks i can use with compact framework 3.5.

Is there any further development on your project?

Well, this Community Release of the Mobile Application Blocks are not "Software Factory" oriented. What we're looking for is to provide a simpler adoption path without major requirements like GAT and GAX would be.

That's the reason why you won't find a Guidance Package as part of the Blocks. We're just providing the blocks source code, so you can use what you need without passing thru a complex setup. You can actually just pull one block and use it on your project.

However, your concern definitely makes sense, as the former MCSF includes a DSA wizard that makes easier to setup a new DSA based on a Web Reference for C# projects (not for VB.Net).

About that wizard, I was working on a port of that code to the current version of GAT/GAX and VS2008, and I will publish it very soon in the Mobile Contrib project as a community contribution, so if you want to use it on VS 2008, you will be able to do it.

Also, we are working on a Reference Implementation (which is pretty much done), that includes a manual implementation of a DSA. Andy Wigley is building (if it's not already done) a QuickStart with another manual implementation of a DSA and, additionally, we'll be publishing a screencast around DSA showing how to build it from scratch without using the wizard in a few weeks.

So, feel free to let us know if you can see another topic where guidance is needed, your feedback is very important to us, it helps to make the blocks better.

Sorry for the huge delay.

To be honest, I cannot completely follow your question. However, I'll try to help you and let me know if I've missunderstood anything.

First of all, if you're creating a new Unit Testing project using the default project template from Visual Studio 2008, it's not targeting a mobile device. For doing that, you can start from a .Net CF project by right clicking on a class code window and select "Create Unit Test".

As an alternative, I've posted a project template in my blog: http://www.mobilepractices.com/2009/05/vs2008-add-new-project-smart-device.html

Either using the first approach, or the project template one, you won't have the unit testing results on a form running on your device. The smart device Unit Testing projects publishes the results on the Test Results windows, as a regular Unit Testing project, and it requires the device connected to your desktop, to see the results.

Device: HP iPAQ 110 Classic Handheld
OS: Windows Mobile 6 Classic
Framework: .Net Compact Framework 3.5 / C#
Dev Tools: Microsoft Visual Studio 2008

I want to write Unit Test suite my .netcf 3.5 C# application. It must run on device and display results on a form. I tried added Form to Test Project but it does not work. How does one setup to do this? I am using Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting.
